ONE WEEK AFTER…ISLAMIC WORLD STILL MOURNS POPULAR CLERIC SHEIK GAFARU OLAYIBI KEWUYEMI

The wide world of Islam has been in mourning since the death of one of its Nigerian protagonists Alhaji Dr Maolana Sheik Abdul Gafar Kewuyemi Alani Oloruntosin Ibn Naib was announced.

Sheik Gafar was 62 years and died in the early hours of Saturday April 6, 2019 after a brief Ill health and was committed to earth according to Islamic injunction later n that day.

He was the founder of the wave making Garislam Islamic sect and worked hard to see that the sect grew to have over 32 branches worldwide.

News of his sudden death jolted the community and threw Muslim faithful and members of his sect as well as his family and friends into deep mourning.

The Garislam mosque in Ejigbo like all the branches worldwide was under lock just as all roads led to his Ejigbo Lagos country home where he was later buried. 

Members also thronged Ejigbo mini stadium to celebrate his life and times earlier Saturday, April 13.  

Garislam is one of the most popular Islamic sects in Nigeria with three weekly prayer summits that bring a wide population of Muslims together every Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
