Adams with Alaafin Of Oyo

Facts have started to emerge of all that happened behind the scenes before National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress Otunba Gani Adams accepted the title of Aare Ona Kakanfo…Generalissimo of Yoruba land.
In a recent interview, Adams said he engaged in many consultations beginning first from getting his wife’s blessing after her days of vehement opposition to it.

According to the OPC Chieftain, “when I began consultations, my wife was frightened by the negative myths surrounding the Aare Ona Kakanfo, but she consulted and, from the results she got, after a week, she gave me the go ahead. That is the first port of call when anything wants to happen to you, you must consult your wife. Within a week, she gave me her blessing.

“ I also discussed with some of my close aides before I threw it open. I went to the leaders of the OPC, consulted and all of them gave me their nod. They did not express any fears about the title. I also went to Chief Ayo Adebanjo, an elder who stands by the Yoruba. He gave me the nod; I tried reaching Pa Reuben Fasoranti but could not reach him. I called Chief Olu Falae who told me he would pray and call back in three days. On the third day, he told me I was worth the title and gave me the go ahead.
I also spoke with my friend, Yinka Odumakin, who urged me to consult spiritually, but I told him I had done that. I also spoke to Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin and also to the leaders of the Yoruba in the cause of the Yoruba Summit; they gave me the go ahead. I also consulted my royal father, the Zaki of Arigidi, the Owa Ajero, the Orangun of Ila. I consulted more than 23 traditional rulers in Yoruba land including the Alake of Egba land and they gave me their blessings before I went back to the Alaafin of Oyo.

CONFESSIONS OF A KILLER ; I only got N5,000 from the killing of Hector, Gulder Ultimate Search champion

Late Hector Oluwaseun Jobarthe

Ismail Adeyemi, the man who pulled the trigger that killed the 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search winner Hector Jobarteh has confessed to the crime adding that he only got a white phone which his brother sold for N7,000 and took N2,000 as commission.
He also said that when they opened the bag they snatched, it only contained children canvas, flowers, boxers and other personal effects
According to the 49 years old man who was hired from Ibadan to participate in a robbery in which the GUS champion was killed “My brother took N2000 leaving me with N5,000
According to the Lagos state Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal “The suspect led operatives to Sango Gasoline, Ijoko, where his operational revolver pistol with nine rounds of live ammunition was recovered. The suspect and others earlier arrested will soon be charged to court.”
In the confession of suspect who said he hailed from Osun state disclosed that a member of his robbery gang in Ibadan, introduced him to the leader of the gang that stormed late Hector’s house.
Said he “We were four that carried out the operation. Keke led the gang. He did not tell me where we were going. He only spoke with Nonso a member of my gang in Ibadan, who introduced me to him. “I was the only Yoruba man among them. Others were Igbo. We parked our operational vehicle at a filling station close to the street where we were going to operate. Later, a black-complexioned lady came and spoke with Keke in Igbo Language. “She stayed with us for a while before leaving. Few minutes later, she called Keke on the phone to inform him that the vehicle in which our target was, was approaching. After the call the car drove past us into the street. But we lost sight of it before we could turn. “Keke approached a woman on the street and demanded to know the exact compound the car drove into. He lied to the woman that the vehicle in question broke our side mirror and drove off. “The woman pointed down the street. Keke took time to check each compound until he saw the vehicle inside one of the compounds. He approached a lady in the compound and requested for the exact apartment of owner of the vehicle. “The lady only pointed upstairs, but refused to go with Keke. At that point, Keke pointed a gun at her and ordered her to lead him upstairs. When he got there, he called two of us to join him. But when I went upstairs, I discovered he had shot an old man for refusing to cooperate with him.
Continuing, Ismail said “At that point, a young man rushed out of the room. He was coming towards his father, but Keke thought he was approaching him and, in defence, shot him (Jobarteh). “Thereafter, we went inside and collected the bags that the returnee came with and left the scene. We drove to a hideout in Ijaye, where we opened the bag and discovered it contained just children canvass, flowers, boxers and personal effects. “I only got a white phone from the items, which I gave to my brother to sell. He sold it for N7,000, out of which I gave him N2,000. So, I got only N5,000 from that operation. “The intention was never to kill the wrong man. He was mistaken for the real target. The plan was to attack the man that was returning from abroad and shoot him if he puts up any resistance. Even when Keke shot the old man, I was quarrelling with him and he almost shot me in the process. “I am a member of a robbery gang. We operate sometimes in Lagos, but mainly in Ibadan. I brought two guns from Ibadan for this operation. We were all armed on that day, but I never fired a shot.”

Inside Akwa Ibom International stadium, Godswill Akpabio’s biggest legacy …..Good thinking that is saving Nigeria national embarrassment

By Fred Iwenjora
Have you ever ruminated over the fact that the only stadium of international standard that is well maintained to host international competitions in Nigeria at the moment is the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium (formerly Akwa Ibom International Stadium)?
This is because the National stadium both in Lagos and Abuja are national eye sore even though so much money is voted and actually used to maintain it yearly.
Destitute people now reside at the majestic but ill-maintained Surulere, Lagos edifice just like the Abuja stadium is not taken seriously by the government that built it.
Whenever there is an international sports activity in Nigeria like it has been in the last few years, the world focuses on Uyo, Akwa Ibom state via satellite and internet.
As at last count, almost all the World cup or African Nations cup qualifying series in recent times played by the Super Eagles had been played at Uyo causing the world to unanimously applaud the huge foresight of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom state,  Senator Godswill Akpabio who saw the importance of bequeathing such a wonderful legacy to his people.
Recall that critics laughed him to scorn when during his reign as governor he in his usual candour and loquaciousness talked about his Uncommon Transformation in area of sports development.
Akpabio had dreamt of erecting a very mighty ultra modern stadium which will attract the world to the state as a replacement for Uyo Township stadium.
However right now he is without doubt, having the last laugh as the stadium which his administration completed in two years is currently the most sought after for different kinds of international sporting activities in Nigeria and the name Godswill Akpabio reverberating across board.
Inside the stadium is a lush green pitch (see pix) and red 800m tartan tracks among others.
Wikipidia describes it as  an” all-seater national sports stadium located in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom. The stadium serves as a home to the Nigerian Super Eagles as well as a center for various social, cultural, and religious events. The contract for the construction of the Akwa Ibom International Stadium complex and Games Village was awarded in 2012 to Julius Berger and was completed in 2014. The 30,000 seater ultra modern multipurpose sports complex was modeled after Allianz Arena.
Construction and Architecture
Contract  for the design of the stadium was awarded to Julius Berger a structural engineering firm based in Nigeria. They were responsible for the architectural design, execution planning, as well as constructional supervision of the stadium,as well as maintenance. The stadium which seats on 48 hectares of land has some unique features such as bullet proof VIP/VVIP sections, collapsible seats, two digital score boards, digital playback screens, digital flood lights, and 30 emergency exits
Structure

The stadium structure is in two phases which includes a 400m-running track for athletic events, and is the pilot part of Uyo Sports Park development, and is enclosed by a white triangular-shaped outer covering that encircles the whole spectator stand. The East Stand and Curves can seat approximately 22,500 people. The Governors' Lounge has sitting capacity for between 30 and 40 VVIPs and is located in the Grand Stand on Level Two. It is constructed to carry little more than 30,000 spectators

By Fred Iwenjora
Rosaline Odeh’s new book Guns of Power makes waves on Amazon

Publishers of Guns of power, the latest book by Rosaline Odeh say it is selling fast on Amazon and other book stores across the US and United Kingdom.
The book which is generating a lot of interest since its publication by US based Strategic Book publishing and Rights LLC is the story of the tumultous love affair between a young couple; one a soldier whose involvement in a military coup in an African country trumps him up as Head of state and the other a young village university undergraduate.
The style of writing, lucidity, pace and suspense  of the former Director General of the National Film and Video Censors Board in Nigeria and official biographer and head of research and documentation at the Federal Ministry of Information gets commendation from those who have read Guns of power.
In a chat recently during her short visit to Nigeria from the United states, Odeh said she was on sabbatical leave and dusted up a manuscript written several years ago to retouch it when publishers snapped it up.
An insider at Strategic Books says “Rosaline Odeh’s new book is doing well since it was published. Our editors knew we had a best seller in our hands when they first read the manuscript.

According to the publishers “Guns of power, a love story during military rule in West Africa reflects life in the 1960s when Military coups were rampant. In the novel, John a young military officer falls in love with Noma, a young undergraduate at the university.
“Their love story takes a dramatic turn when John becomes the head of state after a coup. The politics and intrigues that follow are mindboggling and tragic.

Odeh was editor of who is who in Nigeria, a compendium published by the Federal Ministry of Information. She also wrote biographies of Nigerian leaders and heads of states before her meritorious retirement from Nigeria civil service. After her years  as Director  General National Film and Video Censors Board, she retired again to run Grotto Afrique; Gallery of History in Abuja Nigeria.

One week after Lagos LGA elections!...Ejigbo politicians in big jostle for remaining positions

Since the recent election and eventual swearing in of LGA/LCDA Chairmen and Councilors in Lagos, another serious politicking has ensued amongst politicians.
This serious politicking has mounted anxiety across the LCDA as intense lobbying continues between those politicians who missed out on the bigger pies over who gets the remaining positions in the new government.
In Ejigbo, the office of the Executive Chairman Hon Monsuru Obe and indeed his house is being bombarded by loyalists who do not want to be left behind in the goodies to come. Loitering begins as early as 7 a.m and may not end until before midnight. Several phone calls and visits are being embarked upon with the regular scream of don’t forget all we discussed.
Some others are linking up with their big connections at the state level where the shots are believed to be called from.
Aides of the big guns are not left out as they are also being lobbied to put in a word for them.
Stories are also rife as to how the politicians are heading to churches, mosques and other more traditional avenues to make sure that they succeed.
However,  the newly elected governments are advised to be on standby awaiting directives from the top echelon of the party on whom to appoint.
Insiders at Acme road confirm that several meetings and consultations are being held daily concerning this with the final input of the APC leader being expected in no distant time.
Already several names are also being bandied as potential beneficiaries.

Let us watch out how things eventually play out

Confessions of a killer; Woman confesses to killing popular politician by poisoning his meal, dies

Late Vincent Ike(Omoiko)...what really happened?

There is an outrage that has refused to cool down in Ejigbo as you are reading this paper.
It is the alleged confessions of a popular restaurant and bar operator whose name was simply given as Ifeoma who allegedly confessed to killing a popular politician by poisoning his nkwobi, a popular delicacy made of cow hoofs and skin enjoyed by most people from south east of Nigeria
Those who know say Ifeoma had started behaving strangely since   the death of popular Ejigbo politician Imo state born Late Vincent Ike better known to many as Omoiko who suddenly developed a mysterious health condition which later took his life.
Close sources who knew of the extra marital love affair between Ifeoma and Omoiko said Ifeoma married with four children started complaining to her friends of seeing apparitions of Omoiko every now and then few weeks after the late politician was buried, a fact that was attributed to their closeness when he was alive. It was when  she started complaining to her friends that the apparition has started chasing  her around with a machete that it became apparent that there was more to the show than met the eye.
Further investigation exposed that her problems became worse one day when she collapsed in her house and was rushed to a famous hospital in Ejigbo where she never improved even with the many pastors and men and women of God who came to pray for her. These pastors all went away with the conclusions that she must confess her sins or die.
According to the gist, she was later discharged from the hospital when she was showing no signs of recovery.
That was when her family members decided  to take her home to Ogwashi Ukwu as she was told her condition defied orthodox medicine. Ogwashi became rendevous for mother of all confessions before she collapsed and died throwing the entire neighbourhood abuzz.
Those who were at Ogwashi Ukwu during the yuletide returned to Lagos with the sad  and unfortunate gist which seemed to have enveloped the ancient Delta state community and smeared Ejigbo. While some people allege that she mentioned the people that bought her over with N2m to kill Omoiko others say the story is mere fabrication and just a figment of some people’s conjecture
Inside sources say Ifeoma’s problems started sometime late last year 2016 when she started being sickly and emaciated enough as to raise an eyebrow. Her very popular bar and restaurant shrinking with low patronage.
Before this period which also coincided with Omoiko;s death, Ifeoma’s friends recall how she had announced a boom in her fortunes as she talked freely about having bought a piece of landed property warming up to buy a car
Those who know say one day she had a convulsion which left her unconscious/
Said a close neighbour “On that day she had a fit of convulsion, Ifeoma was pleading with Omoiko to forgive her and crying endlessly. She could not explain what was happening to her”

Mysterious rain storm destroys church in which baby girl disappeared

The church before

The church after

A sudden and mysterious rain storm has blown away the church in which a baby girl, Temitope Ogundeyi had disappeared a few months back.
The rainstorm had blown so much breeze which collapsed a wall dumping its entire blocks upon the church leaving it crashing on the floor as the picture show.
No one was injured in the accident because no member of the church had arrived for church service that early Sunday morning
Recall that ECD reported the cries of a mother Mrs Miriam Ogundeyi whose baby grew wings and flew away one night and has never been seen till date.
The church Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Mount Zion Branch better known as Temple of Peace situated at 30 Ilufunmi street Ejigbo came into the news when a two years old baby girl Tope who was sleeping with her mum in the church but has not been seen ever since.
When ECD visited the church after the rain storm, neighbours were still talking about the incident thanking God for no lives were lost. They also retold how the rain storm of the morning hit the wall which in turn hit the church.
A motley crowd had gathered after the news spread about the church collapse with mixed feelings trailing the sad incident. While some people feel that it serves the church right because according to one passer by “ a church from where babies disappear is not a good church  while some others say it could be mere coincidence.

Said a neighbour “ it was around between 6.30a.m and 7 a.m that we heard a loud noise and a crashing sound and when I ran out, behold it was the church sitting on its own debris. Thank God no lives were lost.

Obe’s bombshell; LGA Chairmanship is not for the inexperienced. …Hon Monsuru Obe in exclusive chat on his plans for Ejigbo

Former Vice Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council whose eyes are on the Chairmanship seat, Hon Monsuru Obe has dropped what many consider a bomb on the current goings on as the build up to the local Council elections in Lagos continues saying that “local council leadership is not for the inexperienced”
In a recent exclusive chat with ECD team, Hon Obe said he is the most qualified to mount the saddle because according to him, he understands “the real issues in grassroots leadership”
The scion of the Nurudeen Obe political family in reaction to the seeming endorsement of Dr Olatunde Olusunmade  and Dr Olumide Ojoola by Lagos APC Chairman, Chief Dele Ajomale as APC flag bearers in the forth coming council elections said there should be no such endorsements as the field has to be level for all contenders,
in his words, “I believe in party supremacy and structure. Depriving other contenders amounts to hand picking which is not democratic in this dispensation. Let all the contenders test their popularity in a primary election to choose who is better for APC. It is better that all APC members are stakeholders rather than being dispersed. No one loves a contentious government. The system has to be very transparent to hold water.”
Speaking further, Obe said the race to Tiger House that is the Ejigbo Local Council headquarters should be for the experienced people like me and not for freshers who do not even understand the dynamics of local council governance and would begin to learn on the job with scarce resources available. As for me, I have the technical know-how to fall back on my experience when the chips are down.
Defense of Bamigbetan’s tenure
In defense of his years on the saddle as Vice Chairman, the civil engineer said “No matter how you try to bend history, Ejigbo was not as connected as it is today. We did all the connecting roads that link Ejigbo with the many communities around it. we had figured that traffic engulfed Ejigbo because of no connecting roads so we did some connection for the people. That is why Idimu, Isheri/Ijegun, Ajao estate links. We did powerline, Ailegun to connect Bayo Oyelana and decongest Iyana Ejigbo. That was why we started Peter Agha, the famous January 27 road which has been completed today. Who would also forget the many drainages we did to checkmate flooding?
Again, when we came there were only two schools but we dispersed the schools across all the wards. Pupils and students do not have to trek far to congested schools.

Don't also forget what we did for the health centers by opening up health centers across the wards. We even gave free drugs and 24 hours service but not now”

LGA Elections fever grips Lagosians... Some of those who want to rule Ejigbo

Dr Olatunde Olusunmade
He is one of the biggest contenders for the seat of Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA. Olusunmade, a medical doctor of great repute has been seeking this seat for sometime now even though he never made it covert. This time around, he is not in the dark but out in the open. He had told ECD that it is not a rumour that he is interested in the seat when the Lagos LGA elections are held. He is the founder and medical Director of Estate Clinics, situated at Jakande estate, Ejigbo. He is of the APC.

Engr. Monsuru Obe
Another big contender for the seat of Ejigbo power is son of one of Ejigbo’s major political war horses Nurudeen Obe, Monsuru Obe was Vice Chairman of Ejigbo under Hon Kehinde Bamigbetan and logically feels he is the most qualified and experienced to fill the seat vacated by his boss.
He will readily talk about his in depth knowledge of how things work at the grassroots local government level, Obe does not mince words about his intention to battle for this seat. He says “Let us have a free and fair primaries or a debate and see who will explain well all he wants to do as Chairman”
Obe is a civil engineer. He is a solid member of APC.

Engr. Ibrahim Adefenwa.
He is not new in the contest for the leadership of the Tiger House, the headquarters of Ejigbo Local council. Ibrahim Adefenwa better known as A10 is a PDP man to the core who believes that Ejigbo and indeed Nigeria will be better off if PDP is in power not only nationally but also at the LGA level.
He never ceases to tell all who care to listen that APC has failed Nigeria and indeed Ejigbo so must be changed.
See what we did at the House of reps and House of Assembly and the contributions of our Hon members and ypou will know that PDP means business.

Dr Olumide Ojoola.
Many people got to know of the political might of Dr. Olumide Ojoola, one of the many medical doctor sons of Oba Moroof Ojoola, Ojoon of Ejigbo when he landed from the blues to contest the primaries to be a member of Lagos House of Assembly representing Oshodi 11 but did not succeed. He came second in the contest after about a month of joining the race also planting himself into political reckoning by so doing.
He wants to play a role in the way his community is run either as Chairman or any other position that presents itself.

Elder Olu Arulogun
One time secretary to Ejigbo Local Council Elder Olu Arulogu has not yet jettisoned the idea of becoming Chairman of Ejigbo much sooner than later. More meetings upon meetings still takes place around him regularly to actualise this dream. SA few weeks ago, Arulogun took over Ejigbo with fliers, posters and banners promising a new dawn..new hope and new vision,

Suleimon Tajudeen
He served as the first Councilor from Ejigbo in the days when  the community was under Oshodi.
He later also served as Councilor of Ifoshi ward and became leader of Ejigbo LCDA House. Taju is said to have an eye on something.

Adewale Akinlusi
He has always been very passionate about development at grass roots level and would love to actualise this passion if he gets at the top of local government administration as Chairman. Akinlusi, a maritime specialist is contesting for the PDP and hopes for the ticket of his party.
Akinlusi tells every one that he is on a rescue mission for Ejigbo which according to him has been in coma under the hands of APC
.
Rev. Augustine Afolabi  Ojo
The son of renowned religious leader Late Bishop Aduragbemi Ojo of Mounts of Salvation Apostolic Church( Mosac) is also gearing up to become Chairman of Ejigbo under PDP. If he is chosen by his party, he would bring about his experience at ward level where he has been Zonal Chairman, Coordinating Chairman and a member of ward exco to bring about what he considers a wind of change.

Hon. Grace Nwankwo Okere

The well known fashion designer and cosmetologist  and women leader has her eyes on the Councilorship of Ifoshi ward where she believes she will make an impact. As women leader of Igbo speaking community, Grace seems to have total support of the Igbos in Ejigbo. She will do battle for APC.
*Watch out for more contenders

Horror...Church ushers in bloody fight, land in court, head to Kirikiri....For sagging trousers

Members of a renowned Pentecostal church in Lagos  will not forget in a hurry,  the recent very bloody fight by two ushers who later landed in Kirikiri after being charged to court by the police.
The ushers of  the church situated at the Aswani Layout of Isolo Lagos had gone into  a free- for all fight,  tore themselves to shreds and landed in Police station from where they were remanded in Kirikiri Prison for causing a breach of the peace  and occasioning bodily harm  amongst other offences.
Investigation revealed that the free for all fight was sparked off by the mode of dressing of some members of the church which was at variance with church rules.
Eye witnesses informed ECD that two church members arrived the church that Sunday morning in sagged trousers against the rule of the Pastor in charge and were prevented from entering the church by the ushers. An argument had ensued which later resulted in bloody fisticuffs.
Said the source, the Police came and took every one to their cell from where the matter was taken to court.

When the matter was called up the magistrate remanded the warriors in prison custody.

The socialite, better known as Biggie or Akpu obi by his acolytes was said to be a major player at the famous Ladipo auto spare parts market before his sudden and mysterious death happened.

However it was not up to few hours after the gang had been dispersed that Biggie made frantic calls to the relative he had come to rescue talking about something happening to his heart.

JEZEBEL Housewife locks up hubby in toilet, sprays him with insecticide for hours *Only God saved me but I have forgiven her…Hubby

A Lagos based house wife whom many love to call Jezebel of our time has allowed anger to get a better part of her by allowing her to be used as an instrument of the devil.
The house wife (names withheld)in anger had her husband locked up in the toilet where she finished three cans of insecticides on him in several hours before he was able to burst the ceiling to fly out unconscious.
Doctors say he survived by a hair’s breathe when he got to the hospital.
Eye witnesses who saw the evil act when it happened around the Ailegun road neighbourhood of Ejigbo Lagos tell of how people were hearing noise in the toilet and wondering what must have gone amiss with the husband and wife to whom quarrels were regular past time. It was not until the man jumped out through the roof of the toilet that people realised that what ever it was must have been serious.
Eye witnesses who spoke to ECD described the incident as bizarre and shocking.
Said a mother of three who witnessed it all, “ I was riding on a commercial motor bike when we stumbled upon a scene. it all happened on one of those streets around Ailegun, Ejigbo, Lagos .The bike man who was carrying me stopped at the front of the house when he saw a gathering of a crowd of people”
The eye witness said she saw a man who was being poured with cold water as if he has fainted. I saw him being driven to nearby hospital. I also heard that the woman sprayed her hubby with insecticide. The crowd were thanking God for his survival as the woman cried uncontrollably.

The good thing about the story is that the man has forgiven his wife and they did not take time to pack out of the neighbourhood.

FLAVOUR…..How he got his name

Many who see Chinedu Okoli better known as Flavour Nabania as he continues to wax stronger and stronger in the world music scene have continued to wonder where he got that name as it was not his chosen birth name. We would tell you this for free.
According to findings, Flavour got the name while playing as a band boy for one musical group then based  at a famous bar and club named O’neil in Enugu,  the Coal City.
Those who know say that Flavour was then a determined young man with over flowing talents and sang most of the songs for the band.
In those days said our source, Chinedu would play all kinds of styles and songs including highlife, pop, reggae and rock and whenever he was done, he would ask the audience which other flavors they wanted. And that was how the name Flavour came to be attached to him. It was not too long before his music blew and his popularity soared.
After his album Nabania was released, it also became his surname

Job of our time....Man loses wife, shop and home to Lagos Government demolition exercise." My life's in pieces" he cries

Misfortunes is said to come in sizes and portions. Same is it said of good things. But not many have witnessed the level of the misfortune as being borne by this man who aside losing his very dear wife to death but also witnessed his home as well as his business center being bulldozed within an interval of six months leaving him so devastated that if not for his friends who have rallied around him, the story would have been different.
ECD investigation reveal that the past six months has been very turbulent for the Edo state born entertainment provider who is proprietor of Cool Breeze restaurant and bar situated around the Oja area of Jakande estate, Oke afa,  Ejigbo, Lagos which as you are reading this, has been razed to the ground.
In an encounter recently after the sad events, Austine who has been running from pillar to post since the demolition took place was full of lamentation concerning the demolition exercise alluding his life to the story of Job in the Old Testament who encountered so much misfortunes enough for one to question God.
“I am currently trying to pick up the pieces of my life to start all over  again.. Or should I kill myself” he asks rhetorically. " I still recall the sound of the bulldozers on that day as they were roaring to flush out the place I once called home and shop" he gushes
“If not for friends and well wishers who have been rallying around me, it would have been terrible, I am being supported here and there. But it has not been easy at all. For a man who just buried his wife a few months back to be faced with demolition of home and office, it must be bad times. And indeed these are really bad times. Even though I had read the story of Job in the Bible I did not know it could be real and be happening to me
