ANAMBRA AGOG AS GOV OBIANO COMMISSIONS HOPE FOUNDATION, NIGERIA’S ONLY FREE HOSPITAL

Even as preparations are in top gear for Anambra state governor Chief Willie Obiano to commission Hope Foundation, the only free hospital in Nigeria on Saturday December 8, 2018, the entire state is agog with news of that unprecedented philanthropy.

The hospital located along Onitsha Ossomala road Atani, headquarters of Ogbaru LGA of Anambra state promises to provide free clinical and medical services including diagnoses, prescription and administration of drugs to all members and residents of the LGA.

Already, the serene Ogbaru community of Atani, where the hospital is located and indeed all other remote communities and camps currently wears a new look as community people gather to talk about the first of its kind medical service in an area seen by many as one of the most underdeveloped areas of the state.

From the major Ogbaru motor garage at Uga junction to the most remote places, islands and camps in the local government, it has been talk of the town about this celebrated philanthropic project initiated by US based  Dr. Mrs.  Elizabeth Obiora Udeze.

An aide to the Governor Obiano told ECD that he (the governor) is well disposed to the event which is in line with the government's interest in social welfare of Anambra state and its people.

Expected at the grand opening aside from Gov Obiano is his wife Chief Mrs Ebele Obiano who is mother of the day and all traditional rulers of Ogbaru as royal fathers of the day.

Also to grace the event is Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru, Rt Rev Prosper Amah and other distinguished Nigerians.

Hope Foundation majestic complex, the free hospital 

In a chat with Dr Lizzy Obiora Udeze founder of Hope Foundation “The grand opening of Hope Foundation medical center is the fulfillment of a dream. Since I was a child I have always prayed and wished that if God blessed me with funds, I would devote such to care of the people. I grew up in an environment of much love and affection. I want to express my love to the hopeless and helpless members of our society. That is why we call it Hope Foundation. 

"I want to give hope. I strongly believe that health is wealth and with ill health all things do not matter as only getting well will be priority. I am grateful to God who provided the funds for me to see my dreams come to reality. I also want to call upon our people to avail themselves of the facility to take care of their health. You and I know that several people have died in Nigeria for lack of medical facilities or the high cost of it. Our giving of hope to the hopeless is not just in medical terms, We hope to empower several people with support in varied ways on the day of the commissioning" ”

Asked how she intends to manage the hospital when she lives abroad Mrs Obiora Udeze also known to many as Ugochaluacha said “we have employed the best qualified persons to run and manage the health center. But I trust that God Almighty who made the dream to come to reality would definitely supervise its management.

To provide entertainment for the grand event are top highlife music kingpins of Ogbaru including Eze egwu gburu gburu Chijioke Mbanefo who just returned from a tour of South Africa and Onyinye Osadebe who will perform respectively at the grand opening as well as the reception after the dedication at St James Anglican cathedral Atani.
