Obe’s bombshell; LGA Chairmanship is not for the inexperienced. …Hon Monsuru Obe in exclusive chat on his plans for Ejigbo

Former Vice Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council whose eyes are on the Chairmanship seat, Hon Monsuru Obe has dropped what many consider a bomb on the current goings on as the build up to the local Council elections in Lagos continues saying that “local council leadership is not for the inexperienced”
In a recent exclusive chat with ECD team, Hon Obe said he is the most qualified to mount the saddle because according to him, he understands “the real issues in grassroots leadership”
The scion of the Nurudeen Obe political family in reaction to the seeming endorsement of Dr Olatunde Olusunmade  and Dr Olumide Ojoola by Lagos APC Chairman, Chief Dele Ajomale as APC flag bearers in the forth coming council elections said there should be no such endorsements as the field has to be level for all contenders,
in his words, “I believe in party supremacy and structure. Depriving other contenders amounts to hand picking which is not democratic in this dispensation. Let all the contenders test their popularity in a primary election to choose who is better for APC. It is better that all APC members are stakeholders rather than being dispersed. No one loves a contentious government. The system has to be very transparent to hold water.”
Speaking further, Obe said the race to Tiger House that is the Ejigbo Local Council headquarters should be for the experienced people like me and not for freshers who do not even understand the dynamics of local council governance and would begin to learn on the job with scarce resources available. As for me, I have the technical know-how to fall back on my experience when the chips are down.
Defense of Bamigbetan’s tenure
In defense of his years on the saddle as Vice Chairman, the civil engineer said “No matter how you try to bend history, Ejigbo was not as connected as it is today. We did all the connecting roads that link Ejigbo with the many communities around it. we had figured that traffic engulfed Ejigbo because of no connecting roads so we did some connection for the people. That is why Idimu, Isheri/Ijegun, Ajao estate links. We did powerline, Ailegun to connect Bayo Oyelana and decongest Iyana Ejigbo. That was why we started Peter Agha, the famous January 27 road which has been completed today. Who would also forget the many drainages we did to checkmate flooding?
Again, when we came there were only two schools but we dispersed the schools across all the wards. Pupils and students do not have to trek far to congested schools.

Don't also forget what we did for the health centers by opening up health centers across the wards. We even gave free drugs and 24 hours service but not now”
