Before the
end of last year, super star artiste Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, bagged an honorary doctorate degree from the
Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), Edo state.
The award-winning Nollywood actress announced
this herself.
Here is reason
given by the famous University.
According to
the institution, Omotola was honoured with the Doctorate of Art for her
contribution to “human development and progress at national and international
levels.”
Omotola had
written.
“Dr Mrs
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde,MFR, Honorary Doctor of Arts (D.Arts) .Thank you
Igbinedion University Okada. To God Be all the Glory,” she wrote on Instagram.
She was
honoured with the Doctorate of Art for her contribution to “human development
and progress at national and international levels.”
From a
relatively unknown background, the multi talented actress has had a meteoric
career, which has earned her local and international recognition.
While
sharing her story to fame the actress and singer had stated that her desire to
succeed against all odds made her conscious of available opportunities.
“My dad
died. Everything went downhill. It looked like even schooling had come to an
end. All Hope seemed to have come to an end,” she said.
“I was able
to stand against all odds beside my widowed mum. I wanted to be successful so
bad, I was sensitive to all opportunities. I escorted a friend to an acting
audition, she didn’t get in, I did. I found my future… It was tough …
Fast forward
to the ban on top actors. Everyone was banned for one year. I was banned for 2.
I had always wanted to do music… my first love but there was no time. Now I had
time, Against all odds I did and released my first Album “GBA” had a hit single
“Naija Lowa”, was invited for the Grammy.
“My song
“Barren Land from my second album “Me myself and eyes ” was adopted by Amnesty
International and I was signed to Bungalo Universal. I earn royalties in $$$ …
