Senator Ahmed Lawan

Ebonyi State Governor and APC Presidential contender Engr Save Umahi on saturday  evening hosted Senate President and APC Presidential frontrunner Ahmed Lawan in Abuja during which he affirmed his support for Senator Ahmed Lawan's quest to emerge as the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate at the primaries scheduled for June 6-8 .

May 3, 2021; just like yesterday.  Very unforgettable. It was sad and shocking news of heavy weight dimensions. I was in a daze and remained in silent rumination for a while digesting the realities of life.

Despite that no one expected your transition at the time it happened, we are still very grateful to God that it was peaceful and a deserved rest for a man who during his life time was at peace with God and man.

After a period of 12 months since your departure, let me quickly give you a situation report about what has happened in your homestead as well as around your various constituencies of church and community.

Your dear wife Nwanne continues to miss you dearly. However she still continues to be in tip top shape health wise. We are all so happy with the way she has coped with your passing. Dee Emma (Onyechigoziri) as she fondly called you, you well know that you were all she knew in a man and she has not stopped telling the world how she misses your presence.

On my part, your son, Chinedum Jackson, the baton of overseeing the entire Emmanuel Utaegbulem Ndudim immediate and extended families which you handed over to me is very heavy yet it seems simple because of my very strong belief that you are there giving me covering fire so to speak. Thank you Dee Emma, my father.

My brothers Chibizor , Chukwuemeka ( Young),  Onyinyechi and Kelechi and sister Afoma Ottih remain thankful to you for the guidance and direction you gave.

AGOROGBENE PEOPLE PETITION GOV DIRI OVER CONTINUOUS NEGLECT

COMMUNITY;

The continuous neglect of Agorogbene, a farming and fishing community in Bayesa state has become a source of concern for the people causing a letter to be sent to Gov Duoye Diri for redress.

The letter which also was copied to Senator representing Bayelsa West and former governor of Bayelsa state; Barrister Henry Seriake Dickson, member representing Sagbama Ekeremor Federal constituency; Hon Fred Agbedi, member representing Sagbama 2 at the Bayelsa state House of Assembly; Hon Benard Kenebai and Chairman of Sagbama LGA Hon. Prosper Alake lamented the neglect of the area by successive administrations in Bayelsa adding that only a redress of the current neglect will make the community feel part of Bayelsa state.

Agorogbene is part of the famous Ekpatiama clan of Agada Kingdom bordered by Ogobiri and Amasoma,  location of the Niger Delta University in Sagbama LGA.

Part of the letter reads “We wish to call the attention of His Excellency Senator Duoye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa state to the continuous neglect of Agorogbene people in the scheme of things in Bayelsa state.

“Agorogbene people have no access road, no pipe borne water, no electricity and other amenities for the survival of any human being.

“The only road into the area was started by Late Gov. Diepriye Alamiesyeigha passing Amasoma location of Niger Delta University ending at Ogobiri remaining a few kilometers to reach Agorogbene when it was abandoned.

“This neglect and abandonement has caused the people to be intimidated by other communities as no one recognises us for good.

“It is sad to note that the abandonement of this road which is not up to 5 kilometers has brought untold hardship on the people causing our farm and fishing produce which Bayelsa people are in dire need of to remain with us.

“Because of the lack of access road, many of our people have remained immigrants in other communties rather than return to join in the development of the community for the ultimate benefit of the entire state.

“Those who wish to return have to first brace up to clear and reconstruct the stretch of abandoned road project and slug it out with mud and swamp to reach their homes known to many as one of the food basket of Bayelsa state.

VILLAGERS MAKING AGOROGBENE ROAD

“We need you, the kind and God fearing governor Senator Diri to come to our aid and redress this neglect before we all perish.

In a chat, an indegene of the community Dr Mrs Comfort Luwei, widow of Late Comptroller of Customs Matthew Luwei “only government presence will redress the pains of Agorogbene people. Peace loving Gov Diri should come to our aid. Our dear senator Dickson,Hon. Agbedi, Hon. Benebai and Ho. Alake should remember Agorogbene people in their so called paradise if only to appease the spirit of Late Chief Alamieyieseigha who started the road”

Also speaking, Monday Peters, a farmer said “we are hard working farmers in Agorogbene but there is no way to move our goods to Yenegoa or even Amasoma. With a road connection, life will change for our people. It pains to ride in a car to Ogobiri and begin to pull your shoes for a swampy expedition to our home. Many of our people live outside of Agorogbene”.

In his words, a teacher who did not give his name said lack of road into Agorogbene has deprived indigenes and visitors of the good things of life. According to him, many teachers find it hard to access the community just as medical emergencies are not easily handled because there is no access road.
