Breaking; No more cemetry in Ejigbo

A section of Atan Cemetry

Facts emerged yesterday that authorities at Ejigbo LCDA have finally jettisoned the idea of establishing a cemetry in Ejigbo.

ECD learnt that the council has rather concluded plans to establish a primary and a secondary school on the six plots of land originally earmarked for the cemetry project.

Speaking on Saturday at the reception held in his honor by members of the South South United Peoples Forum, Ejigbo Council Chairman and flag bearer of APC in the coming Lagos council elections, Hon Monsuru Obe said there is plan in the pipeline to “establish a primary school on 3 plots of land and a secondary school at the remaining 3 plots acquired by the council on Morning star area of Ejigbo.

Obe said ‘it is in line with our interest in delivering dividends in education that we plan to give members of Agbaka ward a school to add to the schools in Ejigbo. We are in full discussion with the Lagos state Commissioner for education to realise the ambition of having a secondary school in that area.

Recall that the earlier decision of establishing a cemetry by the LCDA had generated so much controversy with protests from residents of the area with pettitions flying left and right.
