Former Speaker Anambra state House of Assembly Rt. Hon Chief, Mrs. Chinwe Nwaebili has been speaking on why she became a lawyer.
Nwaebili was
among the new lawyers called to the bar recently at a ceremony in Abuja.
She said it
was the fulfilment of a life long dream of becoming a lawyer.
According to
her, “I have always wanted to be a lawyer since I was a child. But the aspiration
intensified while I was a legislator. I saw that laws are made by legislators
but interpreted by lawyers. I decided to go in and study law so as to be learned
as they say in law…to be better informed. I also wish to be a defender of those
who have no body to speak for them. i.e probono services”
Nwaebili
after her stint as speaker, enrolled into the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu
University Igbariam to study law where she slugged it out with fellow students
shunning all other political activities.
Nwaebili was
originally interested in nursing because her mum is a nurse but later veered
into accounting.
Her entry
into leadership and politics may have inspired her to seek better intellectual equipment
by studying law.
Many are already
thinking the new barrister may merge with her lawyer son Nonso Nwaebili Esq to
form a formidable legal partnership.
