Reports from riverside community of Ogwu ikpele, Ogbaru LGA of Anambra state say not less than two persons have died while many others injured during fracas which ensued amongst people of Umuoleke village Ogwu Ikpele last Sunday.

Ogwu Ikpele is home to Hon. Prince Chu Chu Onyema, member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

According to social media reports by indigenes of the town as well as other Ogbaru communities, fracas ensued over the sharing formula of N20m compensation by SEEPCO, an oil exploration company working in the area.

As at press time, no one could exactly say what really transpired between the people of Umuoleke but many agree that there was disagreements over the sharing formula of the alleged compensation largesse from SEEPCO that led to commotion leading to the death of one Anthony Mmadupue (Ajie) and one Tasiemobi who fell under a barrage of gun fire with many others nursing various degrees of injuries.

One of the FB post by Emeka Innocent sadly noted “It was a black Sunday today in Ogwu-Ikpele as we lost Tasiemobi who was shot during a big fight in Umueleke village, 2 other persons where shot but it's unfortunate that this innocent boy died during a fight among Umueleke people in Ogwu-Ikpele. When I asked how it happened they said it was a flying bullet.  I also asked what caused the fight and they said it's because of 20million naira that was given to Umueleke Village by the oil company”

He even posted the photos of the remains of Mr Anthony Mmadupue (Ajie) whom he said “died in Ogwu-Ikpele yesterday he was single handedly killed by his fellow brothers of same village Umueleke because of misunderstanding among themselves all because of Oil money ask me how much?”.

Many commentators say this is not the first time such fracas is happening in Ogwu, community said to be without passable roads, any health center or portable water.
